Thriving Families Grief Support Group: Building Resilience

The Thriving Families Grief Support Group helps children, youth, and their families heal after loss. Designed for ages 6–13, the program uses art, music, books, discussions, and videos to encourage expression, teach coping skills, and build resilience.

We recognize that children grieve differently at each stage of development. That’s why our specially designed curriculum provides structured activities with weekly themes tailored to age and developmental level.

Children & Youth Sessions

  • Small groups meet three times on select Mondays (60 minutes each)
  • Sessions are held virtually, with an adult present at the start and end
  • Activities focus on expression, coping skills, and guided healing
  • Participation is limited to registered families

Adult Sessions

To fully support families, guardians are invited to a separate adult group on select Tuesdays via Zoom. These sessions provide space to:

  • Discuss the children’s session and share concerns
  • Learn ways to support grieving children at home
  • Process their own grief in a supportive setting

Together, these sessions create a safe space for families to navigate grief—honoring that everyone’s journey is different.

To register for the Thriving Families Grief Support Group, adults should contact our Bereavement Counselor at (845) 561-6111 ext. 232, who will guide you through the process.
