Kaplan Family Hospice Residence

Located at 1 Sunrise Lane in Newburgh, New York, the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence is the only
facility in Orange & Sullivan Counties designed and built to provide 24-hour hospice care. The Kaplan
Family Hospice Residence also offers short-term general inpatient hospice care (GIP) during periods of
crisis, when pain and symptoms cannot be managed at home. The need for general inpatient care is
evaluated by the hospice team and ordered by the hospice medical provider. The goals of care are to
control symptoms, improve quality of life and return to hospice care in the community.

Kaplan Residence Amenities

  • Eleven comfortable private rooms with bath, phone, cable TV, and computer access with attached patios.

  • 24 hour/7 day a week care from Registered Nurses, Licensed Professional Nurses and Home Health Aides.

  • Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to care, social workers, spiritual care counselors, bereavement counselors, and trained volunteers coordinate with the client and family to assure their needs are met.

  • The Hospice Residence also features common areas for residents and visitors to enjoy. These areas include a meditation room, sunroom, library, parlor, dining room and gardens.

  • A spa suite offering complementary therapies and whirlpool tub.

  • Unlimited visiting hours, unrestricted by age. Family pets may also visit.

  • Professional on-site Chef manager and staff to prepare three home-style meals daily.

  • Nourishment Center with cooking facilities for family and visitors to prepare a special meal for their loved ones. The center is also stocked with snacks and refreshments available 24 hours/7 days a week for client use.

  • Laundry facilities on-site for resident’s personal belongings.

  • All Hospice services are provided under the guidance of a Hospice Medical Director.
